P. J. Vernon was born in South Carolina. He holds a PhD in immunology and published science before turning his hand to publishing fiction. P. J. is an insatiable reader of suspense and domestic noir. His writing―and love for all things unsettling―is influenced by the works of Gillian Flynn, S. J. Watson, and the late A.S.A. Harrison. Apart from spinning tales of dark secrets or terror in suburbia, P. J. is an active member of the Imaginative Fiction Writers Association (IFWA) and the Alberta Romance Writers Association (ARWA). He lives in Canada with his partner and two wily dogs.

This is the 49th book I have read this year and it is quite possibly the best so far. I read (or listen to) lots of books and I usually figure out where it is headed relatively quickly. Unfortunately, figuring the ending out early can be a little anti-climactic. I thought for sure I had the ending pegged several times, but every idea I had was wrong. Vernon kept me guessing until the very last sentence!!The book started a little slow, but once it had my attention, I couldn't read fast enough. Congrats on your debut novel!! Very well done and hope to read more in the future.
This debut novel by Vernon had me double and triple checking everything I read, it was such an intricately woven masterpiece of suspenseful writing. The characters are well-written and multidimensional so that you really feel for them. When Gray reached for that Riesling in the restaurant, I became so angry and exasperated that I actually shouted "Dammit Gray!" The missing husband, the alcoholic wife, the overbearing mother, the supportive sister, sketchy cousin (who, I imagine, has one of those handsome, punchable faces), a mysterious woman named Annie, and a detective friend are all players in this labyrinthine whodunnit. This is the only book I read in the past year that I had to finish quickly, I had to scratch that itch of finding out what happened!
Absolutely loved this debut novel by Vernon! As much as I read, I often find myself predicting what will happen next as I read. This novel had twists that I never saw coming. Not only is it well written, but the storyline accelerates quickly and keeps up the pace until the end. It will be difficult to find a good “stopping point†so be prepared to read all night. I’m looking forward to future books by this author. Already a fan!

I chose this book because the review made it sound exciting. It was fun, even if a bit obvious. A good read for those who like a bit of horror.
Talk about dysfunctional families! I loved the debut novel of P.J. Vernon. It reminded me a lot of Gone Girl and Girl on the Train. Excellent character development and descriptive imagery! I felt like I was in sultry, swampy South Carolina. I thought I could guess who the killer was about 1/2 dozen times but I was so wrong. Great quick read that kept me up until the wee hours. I Highly recommend When You Find Me!
If you liked Gone Girl, Girl on the Train, Woman in the Window, etc - you absolutely must read this book.It is a page turner!!! It will literally give you chills. From the first page to the last line, you will be hooked. It is written with a comfortable ease that makes picturing the scenes in your mind effortless. This is really a stellar book and one of my favorites in this genre.
Holy Moly this book was so fun to read! The turmoil the characters go through really makes you feel for them and then all the twist and turns keep you sticking around to find out what happens. No spoilers here, but wow, that ending blew me away! I’m already recommended this book to everyone I know.
