First of all, like many of you, I loved the original series and have reread them several times. I was interested in this book, and I'm about a third of the way through - not sure I'm going to bother finishing. I've thought a bit about why this book isn't working for me. It's not the dialogue, the plot, the fact that I've read it before - it's just that I can't put myself into this story. Let me explain. I think a big part of the appeal of the Twilight series was a self-professed "ordinary" girl getting the gorgeous, unattainable guy who was totally into her and her alone - and having another gorgeous werewolf also in love with her. Since the readership of Twilight was predominantly female, the average reader was able to project herself onto the more or less blank canvas of Bella and put herself into the story as the ordinary girl who gets the extraordinary guy. Rob Pattinson and Taylor Lautner being cast as the two male leads didn't hurt, either.Now we have a gorgeous female vampire in love with a totally ordinary guy and....yawn. Who needs more descriptions of gorgeous, perfect women? You can open up any fashion magazine or Hollywood tabloid and read about them. There is no way for the average Twilight reader to put herself into this story - especially since "Beau" is a totally unappealing character and "Edythe" is just making me picture Rob Pattinson in drag.I don't know why I'm so annoyed by this book - hey, we're not talking about a literary work like "Pride and Prejudice" here, but for the love of all that is holy (as Meyer herself likes to say), could we just have "Midnight Sun" finished before we are all too old to care about this series anymore?

why not finish Midnight Sun which is something fans would actually really like to read??

Ok, I had to go buy it. I haven't gotten very far with it. As someone who has read Twilight probably 100 times (don't judge me), it was very VERY odd to read the exact same words, but with strange new names. Beaufort? Really? She couldn't have come up with a better name that started with a B than Beaufort? I was really thrown off by reading that Charlie bought the truck from Bonnie Black. Then they introduced all of the Cullens with swapped genders. My head started to hurt trying to match everyone up with who they should be, and I put it down. I hope I'll be able to try again. I loved the Twilight books when they came out, so I was interested in this book. Now I'm just not sure I can handle the swap. It would be easier if it wasn't written almost verbatim from Twilight. It feels like she did the quick and easy way out, editing the already-written Twilight just to make a quick buck. Dear Stephenie, I think you would have pleased your fans more by finishing Midnight Sun. This just feels cheap and quick.

First I want to say that I loved the original. I also want to say that I went into this book with an open mind. I suggest any reader to do this. I loved this book because it felt more real and I personally (even as a girl) related more to Beau. I like how he was crafted and felt no remnant of Bella in him so because of that he became his own character.. the same goes for Edyth. For me this made me enjoy the book more enjoyable. I recommend this book only to those who will read it with an open mind

I thought, for sure, I'd love this book as much as I had the rest of the Twilight series. At first, I had difficulty adjusting to the gender-reversed characters. Finally, I reached a point where everyone became their own unique person, but about half way through the book I was still struggling to connect with the characters so I gave up before I finished reading it. Perhaps I should have kept going? I devoured all the other books in the series, including The Short Life of Bree Tanner, and was hoping I'd feel the same enthusiasm with this title. I just couldn't make it happen, despite my strong desire to do so.I'm hoping Stephenie will write more books for this series. If she does, I will buy them in a heartbeat (assuming she stays true to the original characters for whom I have such a fondness.) I've often thought a book that picks up ten years or so into the future from where the series ended would be interesting.

I know how hard it is to write a book. No book is perfect. This book gives an excellent coverage of DC technologies. This book requires previous networking experience. Cisco has stepped the knowledge you need to pass the CCNA Data Center. The area to improve is in the labs and best practices. Complete labs would be nice. For example, a lab for Cisco Nexus VPC using two Nexus where routing and HSRP are configured. I wish there was some coverage/integration with VIRL/GNS3. Finally, a chapter on what's next should be included if one's decide to go to CCNP DC or CCIE DC.

A good read. Straight to the point.

Very good

I am about halfway through this certification guide, and I must say it is easily among the most difficult to follow cert training texts I have ever used. I'm not sure it could be any more dry - what a slog! There is very little effort on the part of the writers to break anything down, explain anything in simple terms. Even the figures used in the book are often not very clear in their meaning. It feels written for a higher level than the associate level. Many times it seemed to me that a term or concept would be brought up as if I should know what it was, and then MAYBE later in the book it will be slightly explained. Fortunately I bought this discounted elsewhere.

Whether you're a new grandparent or not this book is full of information for all grandparents. The writing is personal and heartfelt. I loved every chapter - currently have 4 grandsons ranging in age from 11 yrs. down to 6 wks.

This book is great preparation to take on the grandparenting role, and it's fun to read. I liked the combination of facts and good advice from experts. It answered some question I didn't even know I had.

Excellent book! Really enjoyed reading it and was pleased to get many great ideas. I highly recommend it for all new grandparents and parents!

Cheryl Harbour writes with affection, common sense, and charm as she describes both the joys and responsibilities of grandparenthood. She has brought both careful research and a depth of personal knowledge to the task. While I am a grandfather and it seemed to me that she was directing her attention to grandmothers, I still learned so much about how to navigate my relationships with my children and their newborn babies.

Well, I think this will be my last Outlander book. I started reading them when the first one had just come out and loved it. The next few were also good. Gabaldon is quite a good writer and has a way with words that I really enjoy but this book and the one before it aren't novels, they are a group of vignettes so sewn together with such a thin thread that I don't plan to waste my time on any more of them. I love a good long book that I can really get into but 1500 pages of short stories is not what I had in mind. Plus, its starting to feel like I'm reading the Perils of Pauline, just one trauma after another. The book could easily been cut by more than half and had movement to it, instead, I got so tired of reading it that I began speed reading and skimming the last several hundred pages. This isn't like me at all, I love to read and have loved these books but I've had enough. If I really want to know what happens to the Frasers then I'll watch the TV series but frankly, I don't care anymore. This in itself is a shame because Gabaldon is such a talented writer, she is extremely readable and her attention to detail and historical research is so impressive although she needs to do a little more ornithological research (you don't find mockingbirds and balsam firs at the same altitude). But that is a minor complaint. I have read other reviews and have seen that other people have the same problems I have with these last books. Take note, Diana!!!

Why is the audible version of this book not available on Kindle? It is THE ONLY book in the series that doesn't have the option to purchase it audibly as well.(Of course, I will change the rating to 5-Stars once this is corrected and audible is available for it.)

Oh, what a delicious delight! This is the sixth book in the "Outlander" series by Diana Gabaldon and we find our favorite time traveler, Claire Fraser, living with Jamie on Fraser Ridge in North Carolina in 1772 through 1776 with the American Revolution hovering in the background--and sometimes the foreground. I think this is the best of the bunch since "Outlander," the first and by far the best in the series. And while you will learn a bit of American history, the book is primarily an 18th century soap opera. And what fun it is! We have kidnappings, murder, revenge, the scandal of unwed pregnancies, wayward young men, fires, hangings, more kidnappings, more fires...you name it.The incredibly addictive soap opera plot aside, this book--as are the others in the series--is really about love, honor and duty. Love for family, love for country, the honor of the clan, the duty to serve others. Reading between the lines, it's advice on how we should live.A word of warning: You must begin with "Outlander" and work your way through the series in the proper order. Taking this on is quite a reading and time commitment. The books are all long. Very long. "A Breath of Snow and Ashes" checks in at more than 1,400 pages. But they are SO GOOD! This is the ultimate in escapist reading. And when you realize how good it is and wish it would never end...well, it's so long it almost doesn't.

The Outlander series is a commitment and a journey into history with some fantasy and detailed living in very hard times. Book #6 of 8 was a long book (approx 1400 pages). I read on my Kindle and have the mobile app so I can read wherever I am. Book 6 is set in the beginning forming of America. While very exciting read there are some not so exciting parts about how people settled from other countries and the blending of religions and beliefs. Food, medical attention, and shelter and also in discussed in detail which may be boring to some readers, but I find it very helpful in understanding why history evolved as it did back in the 1700's. I loved this book and have started book #7. The author and her team have done extensive research to keep this fictional story on track with the documented history events as they happened. A lot of respect to Diana Gabaldon and her team for writing these wonderful books. Enjoy!! PEACE

I have read all of the previous books in this series and loved them, but had to put this one down for good. To be quite frank, there's a lot of really explicit rape in this book, and it's unnecessary and uncomfortable. The plot is not advanced at all. As always, Gabaldon's writing is pleasant to read, but the content is what was lacking for me. I'm about halfway through and have stuck it on my bookshelf. Part of me wants to know what happens to Claire and Jamie, Bri and Roger, but if I had to read about one more character getting sexually assaulted I was going to be physically ill. Gabaldon should also realize that, with the astronomically high rates of sexual assault, a book including rape scene after rape scene wouldn't go over well.

Disjointed read and way to descriptive of things that are so repetitive it makes it ridiculous reading. I love , Dickens, Irving- kings of going overboard with descriptions but this was just an atrocity. I wish she'd use and editor for at least these kinds of things.While I love the characters and have grown attached and the historical accuracy and admire the research therein- the only great novels of the series were Outlander and The Drums of Autumn.Too bad. I was so hoping this to be a better read.E

Years ago I had the original.....it was 4 times as big with many more pictures. I was disappointed, but should have noticed the page count. The pictures removed were the best ones.

it seems awareness has come full circle. we once had only only the mystics to teach us the great mysteries. then we learned science. now science leads us back to the place of the mystics. i am grateful for this book. it appeared in my life when I really needed the reminder of what is truly real. love and gratitude.

This is a new perspective and a different way of looking at water and the world.Using special equipment and several different techniques the author photographs water crystals that are submitted to external intangible influences or come from different places and origins. The results are surprising and sometimes astounding. I did enjoy this book and was indeed in aw with some of its photos.After reading this book, you will think of water in a different way. You will perhaps realize that water is not just H2O or a mere chemical bound of different elements but something much bigger than the addition of the parts with a very subtle balance and a specific permanent vibration that is in touch with whatever surrounds it. Something so sensitive that can be influenced by human emotions and messages and because of that sensitivity becomes extremely fragile and able to show you images of desolation or happiness, apathy or joy, depending on the way you deal with it.

We learned about this book from YouTuber, King of Random - Grant Thompson. I started reading it the other day and I am blown away. I love the research that this author put into his work and love to read about his discoveries. I don't know what else to say about it. I just love the book so far and I am about half way through it in one day. Great book!

Tucson has a lot of great day hikes and enough easy ones to fill this book. However, the author is very inconsistent when it comes to what he labels "easy," and includes trails that are actually pretty challenging. The basically level and short "Garwood Trail" hike in Saguaro National Park is "easy" in this book but so is the rugged nearly 4 mile "Aspen Trail", with at least 600 feet in elevation gain at high altitude. Sorry, they can't both be "easy." I agree with the reviewer who pointed out the need for more elevation information, since it's essential for planning. I also find the maps nearly impossible to read. The dotted lines of the trail itself is lost in the maze topo lines and bold highway lines. Earlier Falcon "Best Easy" guides did a far better job with maps, with white backgrounds and simple trail lines.

Great resource for hikes. wish there were better maps and better information on topography/elevation changes.

This book is very helpful to someone new to the area.. Concise directions & descriptions.

There are many, many pictures of beautiful vegan food!Second, I plan on bringing THE star dish to holiday gatherings this year. As a vegan, I am tired of being relegated to eating a green salad and cranberry sauce during Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. Therefore, I decided that this year I am going to bring several of my own dishes, no matter what the host says. That way, family and friends will realize that vegan cooking can be beautiful and delicious. My goal is for them to come back for seconds!

This cookbook is knocking my socks off! I've already made a few of the recipes in advance for ease and extra hiking time on Thanksgiving day, and I think this will be the best Thanksgiving ever, vegan or not!First off, I made the parsnip vanilla soup. Delicately flavored and, hands down, my new favorite way to enjoy parsnips (a food that I would never have gone out of my way to eat, previously). This soup is so good, that I'm thinking of making ahead and freezing for guests at Christmas-time. They are staunchly not vegan, but it's that good, that I think, even they will enjoy it.Next I made the cranberry sauce and nut roast filling. I love it even more than the soup. It's simply amazing. The flavors both meld beautifully together AND stand out. It's really remarkable. I've never liked homemade cranberry sauce, until now. (I was canned, cranberry jelly girl, before this recipe!) my roommate, who up until now hated cranberry sauce, was begging me for more. And he's very picky!I have my nut roast tightly wrapped in the fridge and I am really looking forward to cooking it day of.I'm also planning on making Welsh rarebit, to serve alongside the soup after a nice hike, and I'm making the stuffing and orange glazed carrots, to accompany the main event. Oh, and I'm making gravy day of, as well. I'm REALLY looking forward to trying these recipes.This book surpasses my expectations. The recipes are next level. Some may take a little time and care but the results are well worth it. None have been difficult, just time consuming to chop ingredients. I could probably use better knives, so they may go faster once I upgrade.

I am SO glad I only spent $8 for the Kindle version. The majority of the recipes require wheat gluten and mushrooms. I'm not gluten sensitive, but I think wheat gluten is just nasty. Plus I hate mushrooms. There are only a couple of recipes I'll probably prepare.

This book is amazing! This cookbook has a comprehensive collection of all your favorite childhood holiday foods (but vegan)! There are beautiful photos of every dish, and Gaz thought of everything down to the day-after pick me up juice! It's all you need to plan the perfect holiday spread (Thanksgiving appropriate as well). Cheers to a great second release, Gaz!

I bought this after borrowing it from the library. I like it because there are showpiece recipies. My guy, who mostly just reheats things, liked it because the author rates each recipe for difficulty. He successfully made the orange glazed carrots (rated as a 2) mostly on his own twice now. He is gearing up for the cauliflower next. There are some ingredients that I can't get in the US but I've managed to make substitutions that tasted great.True, this cookbook is not for the gluten free but if you can eat gluten the "meat" recipies are yummy. About 4 years ago I discovered that I could no longer buy the dry mixes to make seasoned seitan. After trying other recipes that didn't work well, I gave up. Now I'm back to success.

This cookbook is packed with goodness. . Everything looks delicious and not too complicated. . Some ingredients I have not heard of but will find. I cannot eat gluten so a few recipes I need to find substitutions but there is enough in the book to be thrilled I purchased.

Excellent cookbook for entertaining as a vegan. I made two of the Christmas Wellington roasts for a large crowd and a double batch of his cranberry orange sauce. Both were abosoljtely delicious!!!

Gaz nails it again with his holiday vegan recipes, hosting dinner will be easy even for new vegan chefs!
