This is the 49th book I have read this year and it is quite possibly the best so far. I read (or listen to) lots of books and I usually figure out where it is headed relatively quickly. Unfortunately, figuring the ending out early can be a little anti-climactic. I thought for sure I had the ending pegged several times, but every idea I had was wrong. Vernon kept me guessing until the very last sentence!!The book started a little slow, but once it had my attention, I couldn't read fast enough. Congrats on your debut novel!! Very well done and hope to read more in the future.

This debut novel by Vernon had me double and triple checking everything I read, it was such an intricately woven masterpiece of suspenseful writing. The characters are well-written and multidimensional so that you really feel for them. When Gray reached for that Riesling in the restaurant, I became so angry and exasperated that I actually shouted "Dammit Gray!" The missing husband, the alcoholic wife, the overbearing mother, the supportive sister, sketchy cousin (who, I imagine, has one of those handsome, punchable faces), a mysterious woman named Annie, and a detective friend are all players in this labyrinthine whodunnit. This is the only book I read in the past year that I had to finish quickly, I had to scratch that itch of finding out what happened!

Absolutely loved this debut novel by Vernon! As much as I read, I often find myself predicting what will happen next as I read. This novel had twists that I never saw coming. Not only is it well written, but the storyline accelerates quickly and keeps up the pace until the end. It will be difficult to find a good “stopping point” so be prepared to read all night. I’m looking forward to future books by this author. Already a fan!

I chose this book because the review made it sound exciting. It was fun, even if a bit obvious. A good read for those who like a bit of horror.

Talk about dysfunctional families! I loved the debut novel of P.J. Vernon. It reminded me a lot of Gone Girl and Girl on the Train. Excellent character development and descriptive imagery! I felt like I was in sultry, swampy South Carolina. I thought I could guess who the killer was about 1/2 dozen times but I was so wrong. Great quick read that kept me up until the wee hours. I Highly recommend When You Find Me!

If you liked Gone Girl, Girl on the Train, Woman in the Window, etc - you absolutely must read this book.It is a page turner!!! It will literally give you chills. From the first page to the last line, you will be hooked. It is written with a comfortable ease that makes picturing the scenes in your mind effortless. This is really a stellar book and one of my favorites in this genre.

Holy Moly this book was so fun to read! The turmoil the characters go through really makes you feel for them and then all the twist and turns keep you sticking around to find out what happens. No spoilers here, but wow, that ending blew me away! I’m already recommended this book to everyone I know.

At first I was interested by the idea of seeing the world through the perspective of someone on the Autism Spectrum, but then it becomes apparent that this is a human in excruciating psychological pain. How anyone could actually read this and refer to it as funny is beyond me. As the picture of the abuse and trauma that Eleanor suffered at the hands of a mentally ill mother unfolded, I felt emotionally assaulted by the author. Finally, we are supposed to believe that a few therapy sessions and a nice man will quickly undo all the damage and Eleanor will be healed, instantly stop drinking, and start living like a 'normal' person.I read it to the end for book club, but it left me feeling like crawling into the back of a dark closet and sitting there for a day or two. (I went outside and tried to recover with some therapeutic gardening instead)

Eleanor Oliphant is one of the most interesting characters that I have read in a while. She is blunt. Very blunt. She lacks social skills and tends to spout off facts to people just having conversations. She likes her routine. Every Friday, stop and buy pizza and vodka. And every Wednesday, she talks to her mother. Those are never very good for Eleanor. Her mother is mean and angry and leaves her feeling less than. Something happened to Eleanor when she was a child. Something that left her with a scar on her face and moving from foster home to foster home. Does she remember it all or is it her coping mechanism? Things start to change in her life when her company’s IT guy, Raymond, and Eleanor help an old man who has passed out in the street. Family is the one thing that she has been missing.There is so much to Eleanor. In the beginning, I thought that I didn’t care too much for her but as time went on and she opened up, well, I fell in love with her. I would venture to say that she is on the autism spectrum. What a sad story she had lived and what a wonderful world opening up for her. Beautifully written and just a lovely story, you will fall in love with Eleanor too.

So this book sweeps you right into quirky but sad Eleanor's life and for me, I was glad of it. I loved the way the book has just the right amount of detail and let's Eleanor's ways reveal moments of humor, sadness, strength, and vulnerability. I laughed and cried and cherished the journey with her to the end.

I wish there were words for how much I loved this contemporary fiction/ chick-lit / Brit-lit novel.SUMMARYEleanor Oliphant is the definition of 'socially awkward.' Think Sheldon from Big Bang Theory minus his little band of nerds and giant ego. Awkward!!! She is never sure if people are being sarcastic or serious. She gives a lot of unsolicited advice, thinking she is being helpful when she's really being obnoxious, then she mentally (and occasionally orally) notes what she perceives as others poor manners or stupidity in said person. She's hilarious without meaning to be.From the very beginning, the reader knows that things are not 100% right for Eleanor. She has serious "Mummy Issues" (love the British Speak, mummy issues sound so much more sophisticated than mommy issues!), her coworkers blatantly make fun of her, she has no friends, she relies on vodka to get her through the weekend and has these mysterious scars on her face which are significant enough to cause people to stare.On a very rare night out, she goes to a concert and completely falls for one of the musicians without even so much as exchanging a single word with him.Eleanor begins a journey of physical self improvement in order to prep herself to meet this musician. Her journey includes a hilarious visit to a waxing salon, a couple extremely uncomfortable "practice" social outings and a few lol worthy shopping trips.In addition to the outward improvements, Eleanor decides to open herself to new experiences so she will be ready when she meets her musician in person. Her newfound openness comes in handy when, after years of loneliness, she accidentally stumbles into two new unlikely friendships.Although there are many truly amusing parts in this story, it also has a very serious side, particularly when the reader learns of Eleanor's past and the origins of her scars. Author, Gail Honeyman, slowly doles out the details of Eleanor's heartbreaking backstory leaving the reader 100% on Team Eleanor. I, for one, was cheering her on and celebrating her growth as though she were my real life friend.WHAT I LOVEDSince I gave this book 5 Stars, and I rarely ever do, clearly I loved EVERYTHING about it. But here are just a few specific things which I loved:The whole thing with Bobbie Brown makeup. She was soooooo clueless that she had no idea who Bobbie Brown is and at one point she 'questioned Ms Brown's work ethic' since Bobbie never seemed to be at her makeup counter.I LOVED Eleanor's observations on other people and how she often missed the point so significantly and then she thought everyone but her was crazy. Super entertaining.I loved how Eleanor just spoke her mind without concern for social convention. That was funny enough, but reading others reactions to her comment was the icing on the cake. Some people laughed and found her refreshing, others thought she was crazy or rude.The story itself was just so darn good!!! In my opinion, a good book in this genre is one which makes the reader laugh, think deeply, feel significant empathy for the characters and stays with the reader long after completing the story. For me, this book did that, and more. I was so sad to see it end. I miss her already.WHAT I DIDN'T LOVEThis book got my 5 star rating which means that if there was something I didn't love about the book, the good outweighed the bad so heavily that I forgot anything I didn't like.OVERALLI LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!

The planner is pretty and the monthly spreads are good. The issue I have with this planner is the weekly layout is Tuesday- Monday. So because 1/1/19 falls on a Tuesday the entire planners weekly layout runs from Tuesday- Monday...and then Sunday and Monday are little half size compared to the other days. It’s just a very strange layout for someone used to a Sunday- Saturday or Monday- Sunday planner. I won’t buy again.

After reading this I put it out on loan to a friend; it's just too good to be left unshared. Anthony Daniels' (better known by his pen name Theodore Dalrymple) brilliant prose--which had me laughing several times--is paired with his incredible adventures to countries which, when all others were fleeing communism, had chosen to steer into the skid and double down on the brutal ideology. Nobody does a better job of finding the big picture in little situations (or in big ones), or finding misanthropically/curmudgeonly humorous ways to describe his encounters. The point of view is not entirely unnuanced, however--he is able to appreciate the tradeoff (however minor) of the existential simplicity and the absence of commercialism in these communist countries, and presents a relatively balanced view.PS I had the good fortune to order a used copy from the UK which was autographed and dedicated by Daniels himself.

The description of the North Korean department store alone is worth whatever you have to pay to secure this gem. But there's far more. Daniels is a prose artist, and here he beautifully illustrates the vicious ironies inherent in socialism.

This book, published just as much of the established communist bloc was collapsing, gives a valuable insight in to the absurdities and hypocricies of Marxist regimes. The lack of freedom, the drab monotony, the deathly sapping of life these regimes have on their inhabitants are clearly delinated by Dalrymple who visits a range of countries where the Marxist experiment has been tried, and found severely wanting.Highlights include a visit to a North Korea department store: fascinating in its depiction of a socio-economic system that has long taken leave of basic human needs and occpuies a surreal hyper-reality well along the 'wilder shores of Marx'.Those brave pioneers of the Russian revolution, not to mention Marx himself, have a lot to answer for.

He is still employed now and reared 8 children as a single father in his younger years. He is a survivor indeed. I imagine there are many others like him whose needs have never been addressed.Thank you, Beth Ellen Nash, for persevering. The reason I didn't rate it more highly is because too much of it read like an advertisement for the author's school programs. It was most helpful when showing what exercises to do with students and comparing different teaching techniques. Still, I'll use parts of it as a resource in the future.

This is a crap book - a badly done regurgitation of others’ research results, apparently gleaned without even an attempt to rewrite, simply jabbing bits in seemingly at random. Not even organized to be helpful, just jumps around, without relating the bits to anything else.

I'm a new member to the Episcopal church and have wanted my own BCP. This ended up being everything I wanted it to be. It's about the same size as my travel bible so it is easy to bring along with me and the print isn't overly small until you get to the historical documents in the back. The only thing that would make it better would be a zippered binding to help preserve the pages but all in all, I am very pleased with it. It includes a section at the beginning for Baptism, Confirmation and Marriage and two bookmarks. It's a really beautiful book and the pictures really don't do it justice.

When I recently became a member of the Episcopal Church, I decided to purchase a personal copy of the Book of Common Prayer (BCP). I like everything about this wonderful book. It contains all of the Church’s liturgical prayers, including two rites of the Holy Eucharist, the Daily Office, and prayers for many special occasions. It also contains the complete Book of Psalms, and a list of Bible readings for every day of the year. I use my BCP primarily for my morning and evening prayers.My BCP measures about 7¾” x 5½ “x 1¾,” so it is a perfect size for me. It has a durable cloth-over-board hard cover that feels very solid in my hands. The binding appears to be sewn rather than glued, which makes it more durable and allows me to lay it flat when opened. The paper is smooth but not glossy, and of sufficient weight to make it reasonably wrinkle- and tear-resistant. The text is set in a font that’s very crisp, clear, and easy to read. The book’s page edges are not gilded, and there are no marker ribbons.I am very pleased with my new Book of Common Prayer. Although it is not a substitute for the Bible, which is the cornerstone of my Christian faith, it is a very useful guide for me in my daily prayer and meditation. Highly recommended.

I have two Kindle versions of the BCP, both the one by Episcopal Church and Christian Miracle Foundation Press (EC for short) as well as the one by Church Publishing (CP). I feel like they each have pros and cons, and I'm happy to have both. I'm placing this same review in both locations.I prefer the formatting in the CP; it's a bit cleaner. However, the EC includes the page numbers which, while it can be disruptive while reading, certainly helps me to find a particular page quickly.The Table of Contents in the CP is short and easy to navigate while the one in the EC is very long and takes forever to get through. So the CP TOC will get you to a general area of the book, while the EC TOC will get you to exactly the spot that you want. I don't use the TOC often because I just bookmark all the main spots that I want to get to quickly.One thing that I love about the EC is that in the Daily Office Lectionary, the Psalms readings are hyperlinked to the Psalter, making it very easy to move back and forth between the two sections of the book.Both books occasionally crash the Kindle app, but it does seem like the CP version does it more often.If I had to choose only one (which, realistically, I should have), it would be the EC version. I find that its pros outweigh its cons, and it's less than a third of the price of the CP version.

Paging is different than the original book, which creates problems. Page numbers are an important reference during the course of Episcopal servicces.

This book will be useful to Christians of many denominations especially those that celebrate Holy Communion (Eucharist) regularly and have traditional Christian observances like Ash Wednesday and the like. It is probably particularly appropriate for Methodists, Lutherans, Episcopalian, Catholic, Orthodox and Anglicans. The majority of the book is or comes from scripture. Much of the language and material from the original book of Common Prayer in 1549 has obviously been updated although the original statements are included. Many of the prayers are particularly thoughtful---see Prayer for the Church # 7 page 816. The copy I received is nice quality blue leather, two ribbon markers, quality sewn binding and gold gilt page edge.

Perfect for my moments of quiet contemplation and prayer. As an Anglican, I was given a copy of 'The Book of Common Prayer' by my church's reverend at my confirmation at age 15, back in 1995. She had written a short prayer inside and I used and cherished that copy greatly over the years, even to this day. Although I still have it for sentimental reasons, I purchased this new copy because it has nice, larger print and can handle more daily use of wear and tear. I hope to continue to use both for decades to come, and hopefully, pass both on to any future children I may have.

For me, this is the only version of the 1979 BCP to own. Excellent binding, and the pages lie flat. Also, the print size is perfect for anyone of any age.

Terribly disappointed and hope to get my purchase price refunded. This ebook freezes frequently, and apparently the psalter is not available at all. Navigation system is next to worthless. It would have been so helpful to have, in order to lighten the load. Bah humbug.

I borrowed this from my local library and it is Just Like The NCLEX. I put myself on a strick schedule of studying this book. I did not have time to study the CD Rom, but that would've been fabulous. Unfortunately now Ive forgotten all of the information in it:{ This is THE STUDY GUIDE!

I bought this along with several other programs due to its having a CD (even though it had only one practice test)and its being advertised to mimic the new NCLEX format. The book and the CD were not in the new format and didnt have questions (such as multiple multiples and diagrams) similar to the new NCLEX. Also, after taking the 2 hour practice test, the program would not let me see my results nor the analysis of any questions. Tech phone support said it happens sometimes and to try retaking the test (waste another 2 hrs of my valuble time?) Tech email support sent a return email several days after I had already taken the NCLEX.So neither the book nor the CD is as Kaplan advertised and the CD doesnt work and tech support in awful. Therefore don't waste your money on this. Two very good study tools I recommend are from ERI and from Lippincot. I credit these two aids (along with alot of prayer) with passing NCLEX after answering only 75 questions.Joe Munzberg, RN

Well I passed the NCLEX. There were some nice test taking stratagies, and some good questions, but if you are already taking a NCLEX study course this is overkill (take that how you want).

Great product

This was one of the more difficult of the NCLEX books, it has more of the pick all of the correct answer questions. Make sure you use the CD to study with it gets you into the computer testing mode for the real NCLEX. Use this and the Lippincott's Review for Nclex-Rn,Mosby's Comprehensive Review of Nursing for NCLEX-RN® (Mosby's Comprehensive Review of Nursing for Nclex-Rn)to study for your nursing school tests. They are very helpul in getting you into the critical thinking mode instead of the memorization mode.

In July of 2004, I took my boards and did not pass. I was devestated. After picking myself up and dusting off, I found the Kaplan NCLEX-RN 2004-2005 book. As I read through these reviews I was shocked to see that some people thought the book was horrible. It is important to Know that before opening this book to review you must already have reviewed all areas of nursing content (Med surg, pediatrics, maternity, ...) This book was my bible and questions in the book are the closest to the NCLEX RN exam I have ever seen! I took my boards again in September 2004 and passed with 75 questions! I attribute this success to this amazing book. If you follow thier stratagies, you will pass!!I suggest to study with this book, after completing Saunders Comprehensive Review book. For anyone who is displeased with Kaplan RN it is only because they needed a more in depth review of basic Nursing content before following Kaplan's stratagies to pass. This book should only be used in your final stretch of studying before the exam. Good luck!

I just took the NCLEX two days ago and passed and I think this book was the most helpful. The questions were the most like the ones I encountered on the NCLEX and the authors did an excellent job giving strategies for how to approach the questions. This book truly focuses on the application of knowledge and not just the recall of random facts, which most of the other NCLEX books did. The CD rom was extremely helpful in targeting my problem areas, it gave a breakdown of the different testing areas after the test.
