Took me just 15 minutes to read, and provided absolutely no real information about cichlids, except to point you to a website that is also very non-user-friendly. I was looking for information on the fish themselves, what their needs are, how to test water and understand the significance of the results, what to do if you see breeding, if one dies, anything...I can't believe this book is more than 99 cents. Still looking. If anyone finds a book/guide that might have real information for someone who wants to be a good caretaker to these fish, please let me know about it.
This is not a book, nor is it a magazine, and it is certainly not worth $10. I didn't learn anything that I didn't already know. All the information in this publication is available for free on the internet. Do not waste your money.
I liked this book. 42 page of no nonsense and to the point advise. I very much appreciated that he named good products to use. So many times your aquarium shop will advise on what they sell. If this is your first aquarium or you are converting from community tank to Cichlids, this is the book for you.
The book is very basic and non-spesific to the species. The grammar also shows that this is a self-published book.
Better than most other booklets, with out getting to technical or boring. He keeps it understandable, people will understand this reading the best
Perfect for those wanting to start keeping African Cichlids (and even for other tropical fish)... Very thorough instructions with a ton of information including some links to good references to check out more information... The other thing that I found extremely helpful were the important instructions for setting up a new tank and to make sure that you age it 4 to 6 weeks, before you start adding any fish. This is to assist the development of the good bacteria that is needed for the health of the fish. He also recommends a particular brand of water conditioner to buy that will assist with establishing the right environment in the tank before you risk putting any fish in... The one thing I hate with any pets... even fish, is having them die, so for me this was one of the best parts of this book.
